Like other Asian dog breeds, the shiba (shiba inu) is endowed with a very strong character. It has even been described as a “big dog in a small body”. Dogs of this breed are intelligent, extremely clever and stubborn. Their upbringing therefore requires a lot of consistency and patience. It is therefore not an easy dog, and when buying it for a home with a child, special attention should be paid to proper upbringing.
In relation to strangers, the shiba (shiba inu) initially keeps its distance, but after some time it accepts people it has managed to get to know. However, she is not very effusive in showing them affection. She loves to play together and has loads of energy that almost never runs out. When she gets bored with company and wants a break from people, she hides in her quiet corner and takes a nap. At home, the shiba is quiet and is unlikely to impose itself on its surroundings.
